Anyone dreaming of art projects for 2009 should wait no longer to take their first steps towards making them a reality. Apply for your art grants today! Everything you need to know, you'll find below.... including the newly announced theme, which should really stoke your idea fires. Think of all of the warm times we'll have this summer, while you're freezing your tootsies off out there. We're already getting all hot, just thinking about it. Mmmmm.

Thank you to everyone who submitted theme ideas for Apogaea '09! This year's selected theme idea is "Ramble".
RAMBLE
- to wander around in a leisurely, aimless manner.
- to take a course with many turns or windings, as a stream or path.
- to grow in a random, unsystematic fashion.
- to talk or write in a discursive, aimless way

TICKET/FLYER DESIGN CONTEST
Once again, the Apogaea Creative Committee is hosting a ticket and flyer design contest.

Deadline : Midnight, February 10, 2009

We will be using ONE design for both tickets and flyers. Winner will receive ONE free ticket to Apogaea 2009.
Art Guidelines*:
Flyer Design Size - final size 5.5" x 4.25" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 4.75"
Ticket Design Size - final size 5.5" x 2" + .25" bleed on all 4 sides = 6" X 2.5"
File Formats - tiff, eps, pdf, and high quality jpg files accepted
Resolution - 300 dpi is ideal, but files must be at least 200 dpi
Submissions will be judged based on concept, execution & image quality

Both tickets and flyers should use the same design.
On each, you must include:
• The name of the event, "Apogaea"
• This year's theme name, "Ramble"
• the Apogaea logo, which you can find in eps format at http://apogaea.com
• The tentative date of the event, June 4th - 7th 2009
*Please note that it is very important to stay within the developing guidelines. Pulling images off of the internet is usually not a good idea because of the low quality issues.

SECURE YOUR CREATIVE GRANT FOR AN APO '09 ART PROJECT TODAY!
What is it that YOU want to do/bring/show/perform/play/teach/offer at APOGAEA 2009?
What can YOU offer your community, and how can we help you do that?
The Creative Committee is now accepting creative grant applications for APOGAEA 2009. Keep in mind principles such as Leave No Trace, Participation, and Safety when imagining your creative piece. Following APOGAEA's 2009 theme is not necessary, but is always cool. So stay tuned for that announcement next month.
Applications and all supplemental material will be reviewed by the Apogaea Creative Grants Committee. Grants will be awarded and checks sent no later than February 15, 2009. Best of luck to everyone!

Apo would like to give big warm Bear Hug to our newest additions to the Board of (Mis)Directors.
"Jethro Grantham"
Jethro brings to the table an extensive background "Cool Stuff". He's written over 30 business plans, has an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship, MS in Engineering, Lead over 100 River Trips including 9 down the Grand Canyon and best of all....he's thrown LARGE PARTIES!!! Yeahhhhhh!
"Uncle Dave"
He started raising hell at Apogaea in 2004 where he had so much fun that 30 days later he was heading out to Burning Man. Ever since his de-virginization, Uncle Dave has been busy assisting Ender with the Apogaea Effigy projects, other art projects along with being a loyal Ranger for Apogaea and Burningman for several years now. Currently Uncle Dave holds the very esteemed title of Gate Lead for Apogaea. This is not an easy job and we are ever so grateful to have him part of the Apogaea Family.
